EPABA Community Banner Project, in partnership with HRM, has been formed to implement a beautification and enhancement banner program to our community.
Our vision is to:
1. Honour our Past (Banners within the community to celebrate our Veterans)
2. Care about our Community and its People (support local business, promote our community, beautify our area)
3. Create Excitement about our future
In 2021 the EPABA Banner Committee honoured our Veterans with a display of Banners on the Sea Can located on the back property of the CAER 164 Eastern Passage Legion. Then, working with HRM to gain permits we were able to install brackets on 27 locations from Shearwater into Eastern Passage.
November 2022 saw 24 Remembrance Day Banners installed throughout our community honouring 20 Veterans. These banners where switched out to 27 Community Banners early December 2022, including 11 ‘Winter Seasonal Banners’.
In March of 2023, the winter ‘Seasonal Banners’ were switched out to spring/summer. Then in November 2023, the Remembrance Day Banners were once again installed onto 24 pole locations. The Community/Winter Seasonal banners were once again switched out in early December 2023 with 11 seasonal banners switched out in March 2024.
The Banner Committee working with the Eastern Passage Legion is working on the 2024 list of Veterans to be honoured. Please visit the VETERANS PAGE to learn more on past Veterans Honoured and how you can support.
This community project would not be possible without the support of the Federal Grant Funding with the ACOA program, Halifax Regional Municipal Grant Funding w/ Councilor Becky Kent, Royal Canadian Legion CAEN Branch 164 Poppy Fund as well as Sponsorship Support with the purchasing of yearly Aprons from the many local EPABA Member Businesses. Thank you !
This community project has many costs associated with it including, design and print production, installation, liability insurance and storage fees. If you to support this community project you can Donate securely online.
Community Banners
Apron Sponsors
The Community/Seasonal Banners each have an ‘apron‘ hanging representing various community businesses that support this community project. Apron Sponsors are members in good standing with the Eastern Passage & Area Business Association (EPABA) (note: there are no aprons attached to any Veteran Banner). A link to the banner locations and current banners on display can be found here Google Map Link.
The funds raised from the apron sponsor help support the costs of the project including the switch out of the banners. This is one of our highest operating costs of about $100 per banner location to switch over. Which means for switching to the Veteran Banners in November and then back to community banners in December, the cost is close to $5,500.00.
THANK YOU 2023-2024 Sponsors !!!
